“You can use your word to explore broader perspectives of viewing new situations. Your word of the year helps you to try new things and helps to set objectives.
My word of the year helped to get me out of my comfort zone and explore new things. it helped me to understand that sticking to the same thing all the time means I won't learn anything new. I will continue to repeat the same mistakes over. By getting out of my comfort zone I will learn to experience new endeavors.” -Ashley Smith (9) |
“The objective of The Word of the Year project is to target a specific word and reasons that motivate you to mirror it. This was significant, because a majority of people focus on the negativity and it was helpful to focus on a something that could enhance who you are as a person.
I've learned to let things go and just breathe, whether or not it hurts. I've recently let go of some things that I've been attached to for so long, and it was nice to see that I was able to do that for myself. It reminds me that I'm able to live my life and make myself happy.” -Quionie Gaban (10) |
“I personally feel very changed (haha, that's my word) after focusing on my word of the year. I feel that I've found a new peace within myself and I understand the world around me a little better. Everything is always changing, we have to learn take it in whether good or bad. Also, we need to remember that we can be a major influence on how things are changed around us. Exploring my word has helped me open my eyes a bit more and see the world with more acceptance of others’ views and ideas.” -Nelly Cameron (10) |
